Laura Weinstein, LMFT/ ATR-BC

She / They Pronouns

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Board Certified Art Therapist. I have been working with young people in therapeutic settings for the past 10 years and in a clinical mental health setting for the past six years. I started my career by volunteering through a variety of art programs with inpatients at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. I did my graduate internship and post-graduate work at a community mental health agency where I worked with children and families. In those roles, I gained  gained expertise in  major life adjustments (Divorce, a New Sibling, Moving, a New School), Anxiety (Generalized, Unspecific, Phobias, Separation, Social), depression, anger, self-esteem, gender identity, trauma, bullying and academic issues, and physical disability and chronic illness. I started by first private practice (Seattle Child Art Therapy) in 2019 and worked primarily with children and teens on these challenges.

In 2021 I had the opportunity to join the Creative Arts Therapies team at Seattle Children's Hospital, mid-pandemic and at the start of the Youth Mental Health Crisis. Throughout my time at Children's, I conducted art therapy with kids and young adults on all inpatient units and gained special experience de-escalating mental health crises through art therapy in my time with psych unit patients. However, I noticed patients would benefit from learning the skills we were using on the unit, before ever having to come to the Hospital. This is why I am excited to be back in private practice. Here I can help you learn to apply the effective therapy techniques I was using in the hospital to your daily life.To learn more specific information about what these techniques  and see examples, please visit my Therapeutic Approach Page.

While I have had a breadth of experiences and training in my journey, my work will always be about helping you find your own unique creative healing process to cope with adversity.
